IBM Faces Investigation by EUThe European Union is currently investigating the International Business Machine Corporation, more commonly known as IBM. This is in light of accusations that the company is abusing it’s power as arguably the most influential and most dominant company among those involved in the mainframe computer market. Specifically, IBM is accused of doing anti-competitive moves by not allowing others to have access to the parts which only they have.

This investigation is led primarily by two software makers, one among them is Microsoft Corporation. Furthermore, there are two investigations going on regarding the matter. When asked about this, IBM, stated that the claims and accusations made by Microsoft Corp. and other competitors have no merit.

According to IBM, this is a move by competitors so that they can use regulators to have a position in the market for innovations that was reached by IBM through major investments in these areas. On the other hand, IBM has been investigated by EU before.

The first one was with accusations from two companies, namely Turbo Hercules and T3 Technologies Inc.. These two companies are complaining that IBM is manipulating mainframe computers to only incorporate IBM devices into their machines. The second accusation describes IBM as discriminatory against other computer maintenance service suppliers.
